The workshop was very inspiring, and informative, and his method of delivery was so easy to receive. The entire day passed so fast with so many new things that I didn’ know, or maybe I’d heard but never thought of it to use in testing. Starting from the very first questions – ’ What is testing’ and ‘Why do we do it?’ we all started to really think of it, and find answers relying on our experience, because we all worked for many years, but not all of us had ever thought from this philosophical point of view. The part of test metrics and measurement was not only very helpful but also very fun.

During the whole day, there was not a single boring minute, because all the presentations were interesting, and the interactive way he presented made us always tune in not to miss a single word.

I especially liked the group work and exercises; they were all well structured; the one with the calculator was the most interesting, because when we thought no case was missing in test cases, it turned out very important and obvious things we didn’t consider, it was a good lesson, and I’ll keep it in my mind when doing my further testing. Also, the document with testing ideas he shared with us is an excellent instruction for any tester. Overall, it was a fantastic experience for all of us.

The “Selenium DevOps Automation Bootcamp” with the speaker Michael Palotas was a real enrichment for me. Even as a “non-tech nerd” you got an understandable introduction to Selenium and are thus up to date again when it comes to this standard tool.

Overall, the splitting within the timebox was quite balanced. You received speaker input, were able to talk about your own experiences and were able to carry out practical exercises. After the camp we were a real step further and were back up to date with the current state of (Selenium) test automation.

The speaker Michael was perceived as a relaxed, patient and very competent speaker. As participants, we all already had a certain level of experience, which made the course even more efficient. Nevertheless, you shouldn't let yourself be put off by being a “dummy”, after that you won't be one anymore. 😉

Therefore I can say that I would do it again at any time. Have fun for those who still attend the camp.

I thought it was fantastic, I applied RST before in my work but it was great to get feedback and insight from James as from other participants.

I liked the size of the class, I think more would have been too much

The Location and Food were great.

"First of all, the everything involved, i.e. the organization, everything was as expected and usual. What you are “used to” is of course a high standard, as you have already set in the other courses, and it did not disappoint this time either.

The course location, so close to the train station, the food during the course and the super lunch are unique. And this time we even got a cool notebook! The communication was also spot on as always.

Otherwise – the course itself: Unique. So many practical exercises was a challenge for me as a lone fighter in the company, as it was unusual, but more than that, I was able to learn so much just by collaborating, in addition to the course content.

And of course James, I always enjoy listening to him and (trying to) discuss things with him!"

Overall I thought the course was very good.

The small number of people on the course meant that we could get more time from Michael which made the course more intense, and meant that nobody on the course was searching for answers. It was good to have all the background detail on Selenium, how it started and how it evolved. The working examples were a good blend of real world problems and how to solve them using different techniques.

For me, it would be better if less time was spent on the theory/history side, and the time gained was used more for the working example exercises.

The VM situation was tricky to begin with, I would let participants using Mac know that they need to figure out all the shortcuts and get the correct keyboard setup before the course starts. I wasted a lot of time on this and more Mac users will probably have the same issues in the future.

On one hand, it was good to have the clean VM set up, but on the other hand, it would also have been good to go through the set up of the project in IntelliJ, and have a good explanation of the components that need to be installed and how. Also, look at running tests from the command line and what environment variables need to be set up on the machine. Often in development, the set up can be the biggest issue, the development of the code is easier.

So I was very happy to take the course, I learned a lot and was pleased to see that it was not as difficult as I expected.

Thanks a lot!

The location directly at the main station in Zurich is in a great location and the room also offered enough space and infrastructure for all participants. Working and learning there for three days was very pleasant. Also thanks to the food, such as croissants and drinks.

I think it's great that lunch is included and already organized and the Loft Five served very tasty and varied food over the three days. Something that stands out positively, especially in comparison to other courses.

Thank you also for the high-quality notebook. You can never have enough of it and this quality makes writing and holding it in your hand even more fun.

I really liked the course itself, especially because it had so many practical exercises. Getting to know, analyzing and testing a real application with a partner was a lot of fun and the feedback from James was very helpful. I can take most of what I learned into my daily work. Excellent! Therefore, the course completely met my expectations.

Many thanks for the organization. I'm already looking forward to next year and am excited to see which course will appeal to me then.
